Orthostatic hypotension as a frequently overlooked cause of syncope

The guidelines of the Association of the Scientific Medical Societies in Germany (AWMF) emphasise that initial orthostatic hypotension in particular is often overlooked as a cause of syncope. An inadequate drop in blood pressure on standing up can lead to brief losses of consciousness. Early diagnosis is decisive for the right treatment, in order to minimise the risk of further syncope.
